Read: Galatians 6:6-10
I am sure, we have all heard that God loveth a cheerful giver! This is expressed in vague detail as you read this passage of scripture in Galatians, but, if you look into it, the love God has for the generous and the do gooders is right there. The passage in a whole teaches us that we should share in all good things and do good to all, expecting nothing in return, and as a joyous outreach to everyone.
In verse 6, it is specific to our church leaders (i.e. Pastors, Youth Directors, Music Directors, Teachers, ect.), and tells us to share all of good things with those who teach us the word of God. Verses 7 and 8, point out that God will NOT be mocked. Let's take a look a little closer to the sowing of the flesh and sowing to the Spirit. What exactly does this mean? It simply means that if you set out giving and doing just to make yourself look good and gain worldly fame then you will reap death (sow to the flesh), and if you are giving and doing to glorify God then you will reap eternal life (sow to the Spirit). This does not mean that works is the way to Heaven, because if you are a Christian you will automatically want to give and do things to glorify and honor God. Verse 9, in this verse, we are all warned to not grow weary. Instead, we should stay steadfast ready to do good and honor God until our harvest is ready, which will come in due time for each and every one of us who believe. Verse 10 is almost like a conclusion sentence to a paragraph, and it may very well be Paul's conclusion to this paragraph he wrote. So, let us take this verse to heart and do good to all, even our enemies, and especially to those who are within our church family.
I challenge you to go out and live by God's message here and give generously of your time, money, and self to support your church, local missions, and foreign missions on a daily bases. It doesn't matter if it is something simple as helping a little old lady cross the street or sitting down and having conversation with that person at work that no one else will have anything to do with. Give your self, time, and money generously to glorify God and I promise you will be blessed, maybe not here, but most definitely once you are in Heaven.
