Direct Communication: Prayer---Daily Devotional

He went a little farther on His face, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will."
- Matthew 26:39

While there is no agreement about the origin of the phrase, there is no disagreement about its meaning: " There are no atheists in foxholes," or, "There are no atheists in the trenches." We don't know who said it first, but sources date the idea back as far as WWI.

Crying out to God for protection in times of heated battle is nothing to be ashamed of. Jesus Christ Himself, on the night of His arrest and trial for blasphemy, fell on His face before God and Prayed that God might spare Him from the pain He knew was coming. But He ended His prayer with these all-important words: "Not as I will, but as You will." We Know what God's will for Jesus was--it was for Him to die for the sins of the world. When we need to hear from God about our own future--when Scripture does not speak directly to our situation--the first thing we should do is pray. God has promised to hear us when we pray according to His will, and to answer (1 John 5:14-15).

When we pray for God's will to be done, we can be assured it will be as we rise submissively from our knees.

The spirit of prayer is the fruit and token of the Spirit of adoption.

God Our Refuge----Daily Devotional

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Psalm 91:1

In the 1950s, at the height of the Cold War, many families built underground fallout shelters in their back yards as a defense against a nuclear attack. Not many people know that the United States government built a massive bunker beneath teh famous Greenbrier resort in White Sulfur Springs, West Virginia, large enough to house the entire Congress so the government could continue to function in case of an attack. It was a secret for 30 years, only revealed to the public in 1992--and was never used.

There's nothing wrong with taking precautions against approaching dangers. But a time of dangers is fast approaching against which no human defense will be able to stand. During the coming Tribulation, judgements from heaven will be released more powerful than any nuclear attack. But there is a refuge: God Himself. Those who belong to God through faith in Christ will be removed from earth before the Tribulation. Make Him your "dwelling place" and "no evil shall befall you" (Psalm 91:9-10).

How do you make God your refuge and hiding place? By trusting in His Son, Jesus Christ, through faith.

Only he who can say, "The Lord is the strength of my life" can say, "of whom shall I be afraid?"

Universal Reflection---Daily Devotional

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.
- Romans 1:20

The heavens declare the glory of God! By looking into the stellar sky, we can learn many facts about God. Since the universe appears almost limitless in extent, the First Cause—God—must be virtually infinite. Since the universe appears almost endless in duration, He must be virtually eternal. Since the universe pulsates with energy, He must be omnipotent. Since the universe is phenomenally complex and contains intelligent life, God must be omniscient. Since the universe contains feeling and emotions and love and human relations, its Creator must be personal. Since the universe contains goodness and righteousness and love and justice, He must be moral. (1)

A cornerstone of the Christian faith is belief that God is the Creator. During the last days, those who deny His rightful role as Creator will separate themselves from Him forever. (2)

Marvel at what He has made today! (3)

A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling ‘darkness’ on the wall of his cell.  - C.S. Lewis

Traveling Through The Book of Revelation

I have listened to some of these sermons by Dr. David Jerimiah and I have to say that I have learned a lot about the book of Revelation. I wanted to share this link with all who are interested and hope that you learn and enjoy this resource as much as I have. You can click on the title that is linked to the map of the series or you can click on this link to view purchasing the series, Escape The Coming Night,  for use on your own at your own pace. However you choose to listen to it I firmly believe that you will not regret it.

- Isaiah 49:15 NKJ

Daily Faith Bible Verse

and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform

Are You Being Transformed?

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.    - Romans 12:2

Has Jesus changed your life? I know that seems like an obvious question, but how has he changed you? Something amazing happens when Jesus comes to live within us. Think for just a minute about Peter and John that day they encountered the lame man at the temple. It is entirely possible that Peter and John had seen this man begging for alms many times. After all, the man had been a begger at that gate for decades. So, what made this day different from all the others? Well, the day was no different at all, but those two men had changed! Pentecost had come, just as Jesus promised, and Peter and John had received the Holy Spirit along with all the others at that great outpouring. And now they were seeing through different eys...seeing the world as Jesus saw it! On this day, the hearts of these rough-hewn fishermen had been softened by the love of Christ in their lives and that love compelled them to stop and reach out to this man in need. So, let me ask you again, are you changed as a result of knowing Jesus? Are you seeing the wounded and hurting and being moved with compassion? If so, then move in the power of the Holy Spirit. Reach out today in the name of Jesus and watch what he will do through you!
